Getting Children Into Shape

Elizabeth Ramey has seen the publicity about child obesity and the resulting blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes problems.  In additon, many of our schools have cut back ime devoted to recess and physical education classes.  If anyone is going to tacklethis problem, Ramey has the ideal background.

In the early 1980's her mother started an aerobics fitness business in New Jersey, long before fitness classes became common.  Ramey continued the family tradition, first as a high school athlete, then as a triathlon competitor, and now as a fitness boot cmp instructor for Body Fit Atlanta.  She is particularly concerned about youngstes who lack the interest or the money to participate in organized group sports and who are not engaging in physical activity at school and home.

 Enter Ramey's Kids Fit Fest. On one Saturday a month, from 9 am - 12 pm at Peachtree Corners Holcomb Bridge Park (upcoming dates are December 20 and January 24), Ramey invites children ages 4-0 to participate in a series of interesting fitness games. She divides the children into age appropriate groups and carefully guides them. Ramey and her assistants even provide a nutritious snack and water breaks.

Ramey strongly encourages parents to register thir children on her website at www.kidsfitfest.com . She tries to keep the group size at 30 children for proper supervision. Classes cost $20 per child with discounts for more siblings. For more information, phone 770-856-5390.
